If it doesn't work, there may be a problem with your installation medium.
(* For Linux it likely is Legacy Boot that you want.)
Answer is very simple. Remove the battery and put it back again. It works. Same thing happened with me. I could fix it same way.
If you can, you can re-flow or change that connector,
Otherwise quick solution is to buy a dvd to hdd or dvd to ssd caddy and throw in the ssd or hdd. You can buy another usb adaptor or enclosure for that dvd drive.
I simply solved the problem by changing Legacy First mode to UEFI First mode in the Startup options of the Bios menu
A cut off a bit of a dish washing sponge. Don't what those are really called, but I think you know what I mean.
One piece behind the HDD and one between the HDD and the lid. Works perfectly!
I used legos for the same issue! Mine was an issue where the SSD was smaller than a traditional hard drive.
It really worked tq.
When I opened the back panel and visually inspected the hard drive, I noticed the sata connector was slightly out on one side and all the way in on the other side. I’m talking maybe .5mm to 1.5mm. I took out the hard drive and found that a tiny little corner for the plastic sata housing on the hard drive had bent in. This little plastic was not allowing the drive to go all the way in. I used a precision screw driver with a small 1.3mm flat head bit to get the plastic piece out. Plugged it all back in and it worked! So it was physical hard drive connection issue with my laptop.
The piece probably bent in when I put the hard drive in yesterday but it worked all day yesterday and when I restarted this morning it no longer booted into Windows. Also, the sata connector on the motherboard had no play and didn’t wiggle at all, so that was in great shape.
I pulled the battery and out the jbattery back in and didnt work then tried the esc to exit to see if it would boot up then got a media test fail check cable then a boot menu with tow option’s of
ATAPI CDO: PLDS DVD-RW DS8A8SH
or
PCI LAN : IBA GESlot 00C8 v1550 with an Application Menu with twoopiton’s
Disgnostic Splash Screen
or
Lenovo Diagnostic’s
I’ve ran tghe Lenovo Diagnostic’s and everything passed I ran then Diagnostic Splash Screen and I don’t remember
I haven’t tried to hard factory reset it or anything similar
