You can type any fraction symbol in Microsoft Word and other word editing software using five methods, such as the Insert Equation Method 1 , using the Forward Slash Symbol as the Dividing Line 1 , using the Fraction Symbol Alt Code 1 , copy and pasting the symbol 1 , and using the Insert Symbol shortcut. 1 Additionally, some fractions (1/4, 1/2, and 3/4) automatically switch to a fraction character when you type them (¼, ½, ¾). 2 You can also insert any or all of these codes/characters (individually) with one easy combination keystroke: the Alt key+ the decimal code on the numeric keypad (note that the numbers across the top of your keyboard do not work) 3 , or you can use the Symbols Library. 3
