Burning Mountain, also known as Mount Wingen, is a hill located in New South Wales, Australia, approximately 224 km (139 mi) north of Sydney. It is contained within the Burning Mountain Nature Reserve, administered by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). Burning Mountain is a rare phenomenon, with a coal seam buried 30 metres underground that has been burning for at least 5,500 years, some say over 15,000 years.
