Browser extension allows consumers to set cookie preferences once, and then let the Cookie Cutter by Neeva automatically take care of the rest applying those preferences to websites and removing the endless pop-ups.
If you’ve browsed the web lately, odds are you’ve had to deal with tons of annoying cookie popups. At Neeva, we feel your pain, and our engineers decided to do something about it. Available today, Cookie Cutter by Neeva is an extension that lets you suppress cookie consent pop-ups, while also providing all of the tracker-blocking protection of Neeva’s ad-free, private Search offering.
This is a free extension, does not require a Neeva account and is available globally.
“Whether you are just looking to read an article, buy a pair of shoes, or find the latest sports score, too often consumers are met with a cookie consent pop-up that: 1) requires a selection before proceeding; and 2) makes declining to share cookies a nearly impossible task. As you go from site-to-site, this can feel like a never-ending, rinse and repeat cycle,” said Darin Fisher, software engineer at Neeva. “We developed Cookie Cutter to solve this problem, and put greater privacy management control and convenience in the hands of consumers.”
With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in California, websites that operate in these jurisdictions, and by extension much of the world, are required by law to have pop up consent notices outlining their policy on tracking and cookies. The intended purpose is to provide greater transparency for consumers, and give them more power over managing their own privacy. But in practice they can also be a nuisance in having to click accept or decline every time they visit a new website.
Cookie Cutter allows consumers to set their preference once on whether they want to decline or accept non-essential cookies, which can include marketing, analytics, and social cookies. The selection is then applied across the internet pre-empting the vast majority of annoying consent popups and making for a more seamless user experience. Once selected, consumers will have done away with hours of frustration and be able to browse the web in peace without unnecessary privacy violations or data leakage.
The extension also provides control over our third-party tracking protections and allows consumers to control which non-essential cookies they’d like to accept while browsing online, as well as the ability to block all non-essential cookies outright as shown in the example below.
Cookie Cutter is a new addition to the Neeva product family, focused entirely on delivering a private and secure online experience, built entirely around the customer.
*Note: The Cookie Consent controls feature is built around a common technology consent platform that more than half of websites rely on. For those sites that don’t rely on this platform, users may still see a consent pop up.
